Get rid of fleas with the Advantage Flea treatments

You may need Advantage flea medication if you have a pet that is scratching a lot more than they normally do. Excessive scratching is often a good early sign that your pet may have fleas. The flea medication will help stop the spread of fleas in your home, fleas do more than just cause discomfort they can be responsible for some nasty diseases spreading, they cause your pets to get irritations and scratch as the fleas bite them.

The anti flea medications are easy to use, you can choose to administer the medication either as a lotion or in a pill format. The medication spreads and dissolves into your cat or dogs blood stream where it can remain until it starts working. The fleas then bite your pet and the anti flea medication enters the flea, it stops them being able to reproduce and kills them too, it is important to stop the breading cycle of the flea as this stops the fleas spreading into the furniture and carpets and infesting your whole house, by using the Advantage flea medication on your pets they will help you kill off and stop a further flea infestation.

The anti flea medication can be used on your pets all year round, however some pet owners prefer not to us use the medication all the time so it it recommended that you use it a month or two before flea season starts and you should continue to use it right up until the end of flea season to avoid infestations, flea season tends to start in April and ends in December, so with this in mind you should use the anti flea medication from March to December and so January and February can be missed if you would like too and this should keep your pets safe and clear of fleas.

Fleas will bite both people and pets, they feed on any animal with warm blood and as flea bites can cause discomfort for a week or two it is important to remove any flea infestation as soon as possible, the anti flea medication from Advantage will help kill the fleas off and stop the infestation spreading, however this can take time to work and if you have a more serious infestation or just want a quicker solution then you may like to consider using a fogger, this will clear your home of fleas very quickly. Clearing the fleas out of your home quickly can be particularly desirable as fleas can spread disease when they bite you. Fleas are not as dangerous as some other carriers such as mosquitoes when it comes to spreading disease but ailments such as lymes disease care serious and killing off the infestation before it gets too bad is the best route.

When you are ridding your home of a flea infestation you should ensure that any places a flea may have been hiding such as your vacuum bags are disposed of, you should also wash any soft furnishings and curtains in the affected area, if they come off you should also wash the covers of your cushions, cleaning your carpets is also recommended.

The advantages of the anti flea medication are that they can stop an infestation getting a hold, the Advantage flea medication is a well known and respected brand.

That little critter on your rug looks so cute you keep feeling its fine fur with your cheek. But what if it comes bundled with some nasty freeloaders?

We’re talking about fleas! Those tiny parasites feed on your pet’s blood and, if you don’t watch it, even yours.

They may not suck your pet’s blood dry at an instant but these nano-vampires are itchy and pose a serious threat to your pet’s health. Worse, they create a gap between you and your pet. No one would cuddle a fleabag, except another fleabag.

It’s time to call a flea buster, but since there’s no such listing on the phonebook, you’ll have to be the flea buster yourself.

Your mission: To keep those little suckers from hell or Transylvania (with apologies to real Transylvanians) away from you and your pet. They are difficult to get rid of and at times costly, but the mission is a doable.

How do you do that? Flea control measures come in single or multiple approaches. The most futile approach, perhaps, is to catch fleas here and there. Even a good monkey can’t totally rid another monkey of fleas. That’s a fact you can’t change with a bunch of bananas.

The best solution is to use flea bombs! Of course, bombing your house to get rid of fleas (and the next-door neighbor) is cartoon stuff. Flea bombs, to put it glamorously, are the smart bombs of flea control.

Flea bombing means fogging your house with insecticide. It’s the dense spraying of insecticide which leaves residue to kill irritating fleas, as well as the other insects.

Flea bombs usually contain strong chemicals that remain effective for several months (six months at most). The residue will kill not just the adult fleas but hamper the development of eggs and larvae as well. The residue also kills other harmful house pests like cockroaches and mosquitoes.

Flea bombs, on the other hand, are different from the ordinary flea sprays. While flea spray works on a limited spot, especially where these fleas are located, flea bombs work in a way that the entire room is covered – 700-square-foot area per bomb to be exact. Let’s call it domestic carpet bombing.

Apart from the coverage, the contained chemicals also vary in their level. So put it in this way, flea spray is just the junior version of the flea bomb.

Using flea bombs will require you to get out of the house, the way any sensible soldier gets out of harm’s way when someone yells ‘bombs away!’ These strong chemicals used in the flea bombs have health effects to anyone who inhales it during fogging.

Fogging takes just for minutes, but it takes over an hour for the chemicals to settle, depending on the degree of the damage caused by these fleas.

Also take note: the chemicals used are highly flammable. So make sure that all lights are turned off. Should there be open flames, extinguish it! Ventilate the house as well before you let your family and the pets back inside.

Using flea bombs is your best option among a variety of flea-control solutions. However, you cannot totally get rid of fleas at home without using other preventive measures. Leftovers from the fogging may still thrive and eventual infest the whole house if you don’t take prevention seriously.

In other words, don’t be trigger happy. You can’t take successive flea bombings in your house and spend a lot of money just for these pests!

It’s also advisable to take other preventive flea products to complement the flea bombs, which only kill fleas that scatter all over your house. To get rid of fleas in your pet’s fur, try flea dips, where you mix the chemical solutions with water. Then dip your pet into the solution, following the instructions, to kill a maximum number of these hardy fleas.

More flea-killing products are now available in pet-care shops and online stores. You can choose from a variety of these flea control products, such as: Frontline, Advantage, K-9 Advantix, Capstar, Program, Promeris, Revolution, Biospot, and Sentinel. Check the web for the flea killer of your choice.

Pets bring you joy and good company. Don’t let pesky fleas change the way you look at your pet. It’s time to make a move. Save your pets! Cleanse your house! Bomb the fleas!

A lot of pet stores and pharmacies, even online shops, sell flea medicines. It shows how tough fleas are. It also shows more and more pet owners choose the convenience of flea pills over the fuss topical remedies entail.

Of course, no one wants to just buy flea-control products that have not been proven effective and are also a burden in one’s pocket. Who in the world would bet his money and his pet’s health just to see if this or that product works? A good pet owner would never risk his pet’s life.

Fleas are just tiny creatures, but keeping them off your pets and your house is a life-long, costly task. It comes with the luxury of pet ownership, and it has to be taken seriously. Those nano-vampires feed on your pet’s blood and your and your kids’ too.

These parasites can transmit diseases among pets and humans. Keeping their population at an insignificant minimum is a big challenge for you.

Which flea product are you going to choose? There are plenty to choose from, but here’s a sound advice: check the manufacturer’s track record. Flea medicines made by Bayer – a global leader in healthcare, crop science and material science – have been proven effective by veterinarians and pet owners alike.

Bayer didn’t call its flea meds Advantage for nothing, and here are five reasons why you should choose Advantage:
1. It has a wide scope.

Advantage caters not just to dogs and cats aged 8 weeks or older and weighing between 1-9 lbs, like other flea meds. Advantage has a range of recommended dosages for canines and felines of all sizes who are suffering from skin allergies caused by fleas.

Here’s the sample list of the dosages and the color of the flea medicine box that can be used for the pet you have: Advantage for Cats 0-9 lbs (Orange), Advantage for Cats Over 9 lbs (Purple), Advantage for Dogs 0-10 lbs (Green), Advantage for Dogs 11-20 lbs (Teal), Advantage for Dogs 21-55 lbs (Red), Advantage for Dogs Over 55 lbs (Blue).
2. It is user-friendly.

Advantage flea medicines are easy to use because of the understandable instructions that come with every package. Whether it’s oral or topical, it can be administered conveniently so your pet doesn’t have to wait and you won’t have to worry about doing things wrong. It can also be used at any time of the year, so long as you use it until the end of the flea season.
3. Its active ingredient has been proven effective.

Imidacloprid attacks the flea’s nervous system, cause fatigue, twitching, cramps, paralysis and weakness, leading to asphyxia and subsequent death. However, you need a veterinarian’s prescription for it. The dosage must be accurately determined by the vet because a high dosage might harm your pet, as the World Health Organization rates it ‘moderately toxic.’

4. It has a unique effect on fleas.

It poisons the fleas and stops them from biting within 3-5 minutes, thus giving your pet a quick relief from the painful and itchy bites. It kills fleas before they could have a chance to lay eggs, with a 98%-100% kill accuracy achievable within 12 hours!

It also guards your pets if they pick up fleas from another animal because it kills re-infesting fleas within two hours and attacks the flea larvae within 20 minutes. Even if the pets undergo shampooing and swimming, or are being exposed to the rain or the sun, the medicine still remains effective, giving them a total protection from fleas all month long. Advantage is clearly a convenient monthly application for fleas.
5. It poses minimum side effects.

Advantage is a prescription drug. Thus, visiting a veterinarian is an important step before this drug can be administered in order to have safety measures. The bitter taste of this medicine may cause temporary profuse salivation in pets, but there are no adverse effects being reported. Unless you’re too careless, giving your pet a high dose.

Let Advantage solve your pet’s flea problem. You don’t need to waste time and money trying out a lot of flea treatments. Your cats and dogs are not laboratory specimens; they are a part of your household. And if they can talk, they’ll ask you to take Advantage.

Best Methods for Flea Extermination

Fleas pose serious threats to your furry pets and even birds. They feed on their blood, reproduce fast, and if you don’t do something quickly, they’ll be crawling all over your house. They thrive only in your pets’ fur but they will bite you or your kids if they get the chance.

Picture out this nightmare: fleas – with tummies filled with blood 15 times their body weight – crawling on your floor, walls, couch, bed, and elsewhere in your house; dogs scratching and biting their fur, the wounds developing into abscesses; kittens getting dehydrated; and you itching all over, nauseated by the sight of fat fleas.

You have to think of a plan to exterminate these household pests the moment you see signs of flea infestation. You can move to a new house. That’s an easy way out. That’s also an admission of defeat, and you don’t want to lose to a bunch of tiny bloodsuckers, do you?

You just can’t act on impulse as regards flea control. The problem must be carefully evaluated – advisably with the help of the veterinarian – so the most suitable solutions can be put into action. There’s no single fix-all approach to it, but these methods have been proven effective when used in combination:
Cleanse the entire house.

It’s your place, not the fleas’. Maintain cleanliness in and around your house to make it uninviting for fleas. Vacuum clean your house and steam-clean the carpets. Get the bedding free from hidden eggs by washing them thoroughly. Mop and sweep all tile and vinyl floors.

Apply flea bombs or foggers to certain areas of the house or the entire house, to make sure that even fleas hiding in nooks and crannies are killed. Tidy up your yard by spraying it with insecticide. You can have a professional cleaner do the job if you have the money for it.
Visit the pet specialist.

Take your pets to the pet doctor, even if they’re not sick. Regular visits to the vet will make sure that your pets are healthy and are well protected against fleas. The vet can also prescribe proven remedies and medication for pets that are already infested with fleas. Veterinary clinics are even equipped with devices that help pets survive severe cases of flea infestation.
Target the fur.

Your pets’ fur is the breeding ground for fleas. It’s a warm place with lots of fresh chow. Your pets need to be freed from these harmful pests. Most pets will suffer from skin allergies caused by flea bites. Scratching and fur thinning are the most common symptoms. If pets wound their skin due to intense scratching, it may lead to skin abscesses.

There are plenty of effective flea treatment products to choose from. Among the leading flea-control firms are Frontline, Advantage, Revolution, Program and Sentinel. These are vet-proven safeguards for your pets, and are available at any pet stores.

If the household budget won’t allow for regular visits to the veterinarian, and you’ll rather trust your judgment in dealing with the fleas, then go to any pet store and grab the flea-control products you can afford.

Some flea medicines are available as non-prescription items. Flea collars are a great help. Bathing pets with flea shampoo every day and grooming them with flea comb afterwards will get rid of most fleas. Although their effectiveness does not last that long, they somehow give immediate results.

However, make sure that you check the labels carefully if you want to purchase them without the vet’s prescription. Some products that have been proven effective might not work on your pets, and you don’t want to see them suffering from the fatal side effects of these products. Permethrin, for instance, is proven effective in killings fleas but it’s also toxic to cats.
Make sure they don’t infest your house again.

Prevention is better than cure but it’s something we often take for granted. Most fleas are acquired outdoor so keep your pets indoor. If that’s not possible, bathe your pets with pet shampoo or pet soap every day. Give them a healthy diet and regular flea medication to totally protect them from fleas.

These flea extermination methods may seem too tiresome and costly, but think of the good they bring to your beloved pets. You just can’t allow these parasites to bother your happy household.

How Flea Dips Work

Furry pets are good companions. They’re cuddly and they like being petted. Cats are sweet. Dogs are playful. The mutual relationship existing between the pet and his owner is truly one of the sweetest things on earth.

But what happens if one day your pet keeps scratching, drooling, rolling over and biting his fur? You might as well find a magnifying lens. You will surely see tiny dark insects crawling in your pet’s fur. There’s no mistake about it. There’s now a third party in your relationship with your pet – fleas.

So you rush to the pet store near you to grab the bestselling flea medicine. It makes sense to you. If you have flu, you buy flu pills. Now that your pet has fleas, you buy flea pills. But are you sure they’re what your pet needs right now? Do they give immediate relief from itchiness?

The best thing to do is to visit your veterinarian, even if you still have to travel for an hour. Otherwise, you might be spending a lot of money on flea meds that are appropriate for your pets.

Don’t worry if you don’t have enough money for all the expensive remedies for flea infestation. If you’re on a shoestring, your vet would probably recommend flea dips.

You can call it the first aid to flea infestation. Flea dips refer to the solutions mixed with the water used for bathing flea-infested cats, dogs and even birds. Once the active ingredient in the solution is left in the skin and fur (or feather) of the pet, it remains effective for a few weeks, unless the pet often gets wet in the rain, pool or puddle. They work best on cats and dogs aged six weeks and up.

These dips’ flea-killing ingredients are usually plant-based or botanical insecticides – all well-researched by the leading manufacturers. Based on their contents, they may come in varied solutions. The active ingredients could be Pyrethrin or citrus oil extracts such as Limonene and Linalool. However, dips containing Pyrethrin is toxic to cats so they must only be applied to dogs.

Flea dip substances derived from organic materials work best for plants as an insecticide that targets not just pests, such as flies, mosquitoes, gnats and ticks, but the lice and fleas as well. If ingested by fleas, they cause over-stimulation of muscles, leading to muscular fasciculation and tremors and initially followed by paralysis.

On the other hand, most researches have disputed the use of this controversial flea-control product, complaining that flea dips pose great toxicity to animals, as well as to humans, especially children. High exposure to these flea dips may lead to respiratory inhibition, causing headaches, nausea, dizziness, tiredness, blurred vision, sweating, and feeling ‘spaced out.’ These are symptoms of acute poisoning due to the chemicals inhaled, and if not noticed right away, it will cause bronchospasms, respiratory failure and eventually death.

Since these contain strong and highly-effective chemicals, the United States Environmental Protection Agency requires clear, accurate, and safe instructions on labels as regards the dilution of these substances, and that they must be administered only three times a year to avoid serious health effects.

It would be far better to have the application of the flea dips done with the presence of the veterinarian or the authorized person in the pet salons. Protective suits like gloves, aprons and trousers that are waterproof must be worn.

Everything has its bright and dark sides. This applies to dips, medicines and foggers. They are highly effective but they have to be used carefully. You only have to follow instructions to the letter.

How to Use Flea Pills

You can squish each fat flea with a pill on your thumb if you want to be funny. The bigger idiot would take two pills and squish a flea between them, like a sandwich. The dumbest idea would be to throw the pills at your dog, hoping they would squish the fleas to death, like killer asteroids falling on earth.

Seriously, if your pet keeps scratching and biting his fur, you have to get up and deal with those tiny, hardy parasites that feed on your pet’s blood, and even yours. Stop them before them feel quite comfy in your own home.

But how do you do that? Giving flea medication to your pet is one effective way of keeping fleas from reproducing every day and reducing them to an ignorable inconvenience. Of course, it comes with the aid of other flea-control methods that are recommended by veterinarians and pet owners who have successful dealt with their pets’ flea problem.

Flea pills are administered orally to pets suffering from the little freeloaders that feed on the pets’ blood. They are taken regularly, its frequency dependent on the pills’ proven length of efficacy. Most pills work by killing the flea eggs, thus stopping the fleas’ vicious life cycle.

The pills carry chemicals that are then absorbed in your pet’s bloodstream, making the blood highly toxic to fleas, which are poisoned no sooner than they bite their host’s skin. These chemicals are not detected by the feeding fleas; of course, fleas aren’t known to have noses like their canine host.

Oral medication for flea infestation is more convenient for pet owners compared to other flea-control products. Just add a pill in your pet’s chow and minutes after – voila – the massacre starts. Pets that have highly sensitive noses and taste buds might not eat if they sense something weird in their chow, but there’s a solution: food-flavored pills.

For maximum effect, flea pills are often used together with other flea-control products. There are plenty of fleas outdoor, always waiting for their furry ride. Getting rid of these parasites once and for all is impossible, thus flea-control measures must be used continuously. The goal is to keep fleas outside your house as much as possible.

Flea pills are supplemental, not stand-alone cures. They only stop the reproductive cycle of fleas that are already in your pet’s fur, but there are fleas outside ready to hop in as the pill’s effect dies down. And you can’t give your pet a flea pill a day; it’s not a vitamin pill.

In warm months, fleas get more aggressive as animals go outside to play. Vet clinics are often swamped with anemic, dehydrated flea-infested cats and dogs. Serious cases call for therapeutic dips, intravenous feedings, antibiotics and re-hydration, to keep pets alive.

You don’t want your pets to suffer from flea attacks, do you? So start planning effective flea-control measures. It’s advisable to give your pet regular flea pills regularly (once a month if the product promises 30-day efficacy period), but not as a stand-alone, cure-all solution.

Other products to consider are flea collars, dips, shampoos, combs, powder, sprays, and, if your house is already swarming with these bloodsuckers, flea bombs or foggers.

Topical solutions – sprays, shampoos – can be effectively used with flea pills. Topicals are liquids administered by placing a drop or drops of them in pets fur, and most topicals claim to shield pets for one month. Use it together with the pills if you don’t want to take any chances. However, for dogs who love to get wet outdoor, topicals won’t work as promised.

Some oral flea meds work like birth-control pills for fleas. Their active ingredients make fleas sterile, so the present batch of fleas pestering your pets dies out, with no itchy larvae to leave their rich buffet to.

Other flea pills get down to business quickly. They kill right away, targeting not the reproductive system but the nervous system. The parasites are paralyzed until they die.

How they kill fleas, however, is not important. The reality is that there are always plenty of fleas waiting outside to breed in your pet’s fur. You need other flea killers in your plan.

What is the Best Flea Medicine for Cats

Legend says a cat has nine lives. Well, fleas seem to have hundreds; they’re just so hard to get rid of.

But that’s the myth. Science tells us that fleas are just so lucky to have exoskeletons made of chitin, similar to crustaceans’ hard shells. It works like a knight’s armor. That is why you can’t kill them all even if you regularly use flea shampoo on your cat.

Okay, granted that they have this armor, does it also mean that they can’t be killed? They’ll drown in water, of course, but a lot of smart fleas will hide in your pet’s head fur come bath time and spread out again when your pet gets dry. Chemistry offers a lot of deadly tricks.

If we think of the pets we have at home, the comfort they give us, the joy they plant in our hearts and the smiles and laughter they paint on our faces – it will be a sin for us to let these tiny fleas ruin our relationship with our pets. Perhaps fleas exist to test how much humans love their pets. Either that or the devil just put them here to prepare the way for his rule.

Caring for your cat is like caring for a baby. You should be that protective of you kitty. Keep a calendar for your regular visits to the vet. This is the most basic thing every pet owner must do. Entering the battlefield without the appropriate knowledge and the weapons to use is worse than being Don Quixote battling the windmills of his mind.

Now check your weapons: Do you have Frontline, Advantage, Capstar or Program, perhaps? These are proven effective flea-control products in the market. They are highly recommended by the vets and usually include the use of the topical solutions, dips, flea tablets or pills, or it can also be injectable medicines. Flea collars, as well as powders for fleas, are also among them.

Just make sure though that you are using the appropriate medicine for the cats. Some flea meds are not just suitable to any cat at any age. Careful reading and thorough understanding what you read plays important part. It doesn’t just mean that as long as you know how to read instructions carefully, there’s no need to worry a bit. Like any warrior faced with trouble, his knowledge of the tactics will lead him to the solution, but any slight miscalculations will certainly foil the entire plan.

Now, are you ready? Choose among your plans as to what approach are you going to use. Is it a single approach where you will treat the cat fleas with a single method? A double approach with two preventatives used? Or a multiple approach perhaps, which includes the use of flea tablets, topical solutions, and flea combs. Remember that even the best flea medicine isn’t enough.

Whatever you choose, always incorporate the idea of keeping your cats always clean by giving them bubble baths using flea shampoo and don’t let her stay outdoors. Whether she likes it or not, let her feel that it is for her own sake, and even if cats can’t talk, they sure can understand.

Keep your place clean too. That’s the tedious part. You may have to clean and de-flea everything, meaning not just your cats’ territory but the entire house as well. Vacuum cleaning and steam cleaning all the bedding as well as the carpet. That of course must be done regularly in order to kill the other fleas that are hideously breeding in those areas. You can use flea spray in some corners or have each room bombed with flea foggers. Hiring professional cleaner can also do this if you think your effort is not enough.

Cats are the perfect hosts for cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis). But if you really love your cats, don’t let fleas get into them or into your house.

And what is the best cat flea medicine? Laughter surely isn’t. You have to get seriously tough with cat fleas. The best cat flea medicine isn’t a single pill but a multi-pronged approach.

Why You Should Use Flea Dips

Check your pet up close if you see him acting strange lately. If you see any flea or dark specks (flea dirt) in his fur, you have to be alarmed.

Fleas bite your pets and feed on their blood, and they don’t return your pets’ kindness. The hell they don’t! That’s why they’re called pests!

If fleas get too many, they will infest not just your pets but your house as well, spreading diseases not only among animals but also among humans. We’re talking about flea-bite dermatitis, tapeworms in pets (if ingested), dehydration and anemia due to blood loss, and even the deadly bubonic plague (as researches now show). That would truly be a nightmare!

You can examine your pet and count the fleas that your bare eyes can see, but counting them one by one is only interesting to preschoolers. When you notice that there are just too many of them, well, you don’t really have a better option than to run to the veterinarian. But if you can only find five or less, then you can still deal with the problem all by your lonesome.

You might want to try shampoos or detergent perhaps. Any gardener knows soap solution makes a good insecticide. However it sometimes fails when it comes to fleas. It will just feel like a bubble party to them.

What not try the vet-recommended flea dips, which are similar to shampoos but contain chemicals that are proven effective in killing fleas. After bathing, your pet can have a dip or you can apply the formula on your pet’s fur with a sponge. Flea dips work by ‘sealing’ your pet’s skin and fur with flea-killing chemicals.

However, some pet owners prefer the less messy oral medicines. ‘Why do they need flea dips,’ they ask, ‘when oral flea meds promise to do the job well?’

First of all, flea dips do not introduce chemicals into your pet’s body through his digestive system. They are also far less toxic than chemicals contained in flea foggers. That means you don’t risk your pet’s health in trying to get rid of those little health risks in his fur.

However, be aware that certain active ingredients don’t usually work on all pets. Pyrethrin-based flea dips are not really suitable for cats, so never use it with felines. It really pays to check the label.

Secondly, flea dips are easier to apply. You don’t need to hire extra assistants to do the mixing and dipping. You can do it yourself, especially if you and your pets love bathing. Just wear protective clothing and gloves. Remember that dips contain chemicals. They may be harmless, but chemicals are chemicals.

Thirdly, flea dips are vet proven to be effective in line with the use of other flea meds, and are available anywhere. So you can buy anytime of the day. That will lessen the effort than that of visiting the vet.

Flea-dip substances are derived from organic materials that work best for plants as insecticides, targeting not only crop pests but flies, mosquitoes, gnats, ticks, lice and fleas as well. They cause over-stimulation of the muscles if ingested by fleas, leading to muscular fasciculation and tremors and initially followed by paralysis.

Lastly, cost-wise, flea dips are a lot cheaper than other flea products sold at stores and online. Purchasing one won’t strain the household budget.

If somebody tells you to get rid of your cat or your dog in order to get rid of the fleas, that’s probably the silliest and the cruelest thing you’ll ever do. Your pets have rights, and animal rights activists would love to see you put in a slammer for that. So take action right away instead.

Before the flea problem gets worse, treat them straight away. Remember, flea dips are the best aids for early treatment.

Flea Control

It is vital you understand about flea control, it is most important if you have pets or if you live or work in an area where there are animals around, fleas live in the fur of warm blooded animals and feed off the animals blood, they also transmit disease from one host to another and that host could be you or your family.

The good news is that you can take some preventative steps before you get a flea infestation to reduce the chances of your home getting invaded by these little parasites, treating your pets with Front line or Advantage will reduce the risk of them bringing fleas into your home and using natural herbs around your home can also reduce your risks.

If you do use one of the anti flea medications on your cat or dog such as Advantage or front line you are reducing the risk of your pet becoming infected and irritated by fleas, if a flea does bite a pet that has been treated the fleas do not live long enough to reproduce, breaking the life cycle of the flea and preventing the laying of up to 50 eggs a day will cut the chances of an infestation taking hold in your home. If you let just one female adult flea survive she can produce 50 eggs a day that can all grow to become adult fleas and produce another 50 eggs a day each.

Pennyroyal is a natural flea repellent, it discourages fleas from entering your home, if used properly it can be a cost effective and natural solution to your flea problem. It will also not harm your pets or children and if applied in the correct manor can be very effective. Pennyroyal unlike some of the commercially available flea treatments will not leave a poisonous residue in your home.

Flea control is great if you currently do not have a flea infestation, it can help you manage the risk of the problem occuring, however if you do have a flea infestation you need to kill the fleas, there is no other way to stop them biting you, you need to break the reproduction cycle and kill the adult fleas and stop the eggs they have laid from hatching.

Fleas can jump great distances, and they often hitch rides on animals and people, so the distance they can travel and the fact that they are small makes killing them all of in one go around your home difficult. Using a chemical such as a flea fogger will allow you to clear fleas from an area as the poisonous gas will penetrate to where ever the fleas are. These chemical devices are very potent and you need to prepare the areas to be treated very carefully, always read the instructions and ensure the room is properly sealed and that no animals are left in the area.

Getting rid of fleas and stopping them from re-invading your home takes a commitment and effort, it is not something you can just do once a forget about you need to be looking for the warning signs and considering your flea control strategy frequently.

Cat Flea Medicine How it Works

Celebrity cats like Garfield and Tom don’t need extra care. Their cartoonists made sure they don’t have fleas. Flea infestation is a reality, but reality and stardom just don’t mix.

No matter how some people treat their cats like celebrities, they will always be flea magnets. For sure they have fleas because no matter how we keep these fleas away from our cats, they’ll always find their way to their furry breeding and feeding ground.

Cat fleas may be tiny but with their number they are dangerous to cats and the whole household. Fleas are great disease carriers. So check your cat. If she looks adorable, that’s good news. But if she looks uncomfortable it could be because of the itchy freeloaders in her fur. Don’t wait until fleas rule every corner of your abode.

In a situation like this, looking for an effective cat flea treatment is important. We can’t just borrow some cartoonists’ pens and paintbrushes or personal computers and erase our cats’ fleas. We can’t just buy or hire a monkey to de-flea your cat.

Cat flea extermination begins with no one else but you and your veterinarian. To arm yourself with the best flea medicine for your cat, consider these tips first:

Have a veterinarian check your adorable cat. Of course, you have already checked her, haven’t you? But your veterinarian can provide you the appropriate info for her after he examines her. And not just that, he could also give the best flea treatment products that your kitty could use.
Give your cats his immediate relief by stopping the fleas from biting them. You can use flea shampoos, dips, sprays, powders, and spot-ons.
Never limit your protection to your pet only. You may not know that there are more than a hundred in your home. So, keep them from infesting by treating your environment as well. Do these by cleaning your house and steam cleaning the carpets, the bedding, and the furniture cushions. Vacuum clean and spray the areas where your cat usually hangs out. For severe cases, use aerosols and foggers.

Most pet stores and internet pet-supply vendors offer complete arrays of flea products from different manufacturers, each promising effective results. However, if you want to protect your pet from within, you should use oral medication.

Several popular oral medicine for cats works by preventing the development of flea eggs into larvae. Simply give the flea med to your cat with a meal once a month, making sure that the entire dose is consumed. To deal with adult fleas, use flea adulticide, like shampoo, sprays and spot ons.

Once the flea med is ingested, its active ingredient is absorbed in the bloodstream, making the blood highly toxic to cats.

Some oral medicines – in the form of liquid suspension or flavored pills – are safe and can even by used on pregnant cats. But just to be sure, consult your veterinarian before administering to nursing cats. It is important that your cat be given the appropriate type and dose of oral medicine according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Oral medication is highly effective in cats that are not allergic to fleas and where flea picked up outdoor or from another cat isn’t a big problem. If your cat is allergic to fleas, however, it’s best that you opt for the topicals and spot-ons, which can be tedious.

What you need are medicines that are effective but not harmful to your cat. Whatever happens to your pets, you are chiefly accountable. You need a flea-control product that will protect you and most especially your pets from flea-transmitted diseases.
