Getting Rid of Fleas in Home

There are several ways of getting rid of fleas in home some are more effective than others, you can use branded products that have been tested by scientists and proved to kill fleas and there are home remedies that many people have used and they say that the home remedies are effective however there is no scientific proof to back this up, but the number of people saying that the home remedies work offers some good indicators.

The best known brand remedies are frontline and Advantage, you need to read the instructions on the box in both cases, they are fairly simple to use and will both be very effective at killing fleas in your home when used properly.

One of the most common ways for fleas to get into your home is on your cats or dogs, the pets often pick up fleas from other animals or while outside, the fleas then bread and feed in the fur of the pet, when they get a chance the fleas jump from one animal to another or onto your furniture and into your carpets. As the upholstery and carpets are warm and similar to the fur of your pet the fleas thrive and bread more, however there is no food source in the carpets and so the fleas go looking elsewhere. Fleas can jump for long distances and this is their main way of traveling when not hitching a lift on your pets. They need to feed and it may well be you that they decide to feed on.

Flea bites can be painful, red, inflamed and itchy, these are the symptoms of a flea bite and may well be the first thing you know about a flea infestation in your home, but please take action to kill the fleas as soon as you are able as they often carry diseases and can cause infections, the elderly, pregnant women, children and the ill are at particular risk.

If you find that it is your pets that have brought the fleas into you home to ensure you are getting rid of fleas in home you need to deal with the way they are getting in via your pets. To do this it is often recommended that you use a flea spray or flea collar some of the best flea sprays are available from Advantage or Frontline.

Flea collars are often used to stop fleas infecting your pets in the first place the cat or dog needs to have and ware the flea collar before there are any fleas in their coats and the chemicals from the collar will stop the fleas from breading on the pets and this in turn halts the infestation before it gets hold.

To kill the fleas in your furniture and carpets you may like to use a flea fogger, these are fairly dangerous if not used properly and you must ensure that your pets and all people are out of the house when you use it. You must always read and properly follow the instructions when using the flea foggers. The flea foggers spread a fog of chemical mist all around the furniture and upholstery that is affected by the fleas and this is how you are getting rid of fleas in home.
